I have recently purchased a new $1351 laptop. For whatever reason it has many small underlying problems, which unfortuntely I cannot reproduce to show the problems. It is faulty, there is no doubt about that. However, when I was searching online I found another similair laptop at a cheaper price. So I decided I would simply return the faulty one for a refund and purchase the other.

However when I looked over the return policy is says its non-refundable. This seemed extremely odd to me since its a brand new item, still under manufacturer warranty and its only been 2 weeks since I purchased it

(9/29/2011 purchase date, delivered on 9/30/2011)

Is that legal for a company to have a $0 refund policy? They do have a return policy but I'd rather simply get my money back.

I thought I had read somewhere that all business/companies were under some sort of forced refund, I'm probably wrong but it just seemed absurd that I can't get my full money back; especially when its faulty.
