Moving out of state with children of joint custody

Is there a law that prevents me from taking my children(of whom I am the custodial parent)to another state to relocate? Initially the children's mother gave me permission, yet now that I have secured a job and residence, she tells me that I cannot leave.

It depends on your Final Order in your Dissolution of Marriage. It doictates what hoops you must go through before you can take thechild out of the state. Read it. It probably says you must notify your ex so many days before; you must provide the address; you must get Court approval; etc. etc.

I am a mom that has joint custody of our children. The parenting plan states that i must have permission of my ex husband before i can relocate. The problem is I am alone in AZ and the father is in contempt of many areas of the divorce agreement. He does not care about the children only that his spousal payments are reduced ( they are now non modifiable) and I do not wish to cHANGE IT. He also has no place to live at this time so visitations are difficult for him having the children. I am also disabled and have difficulty getting work. I have a teaching certificate in ILL that expires in 1 year unless I get a job substitute teaching there. My entire support group ( my family) is also located in IL. Do I have a case for relocation? If not how do I make one?
