I wonder if it is legal to kiss our own wife or girl friend in middle east countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE. I heard that a couple was punished for making a love on beach, will that apply to kiss also.

I heard of a western couple being fined or arrested for kissing or showing affection on a public beach, in Dubai, of all places.

I bet that will have to change, or the authorities will have to keep foreign vacationers away from the natives!

I believe that the laws are actually very different between the various different countries in the Middle East. That couple in Dubai were doing a lot more then just kissing!

In dubai I know that if an unmarried woman is pregnant, she goes to jail, or gets killed :S

In Saudi Arabia, women are only allowed to be seen in public with male relatives; they cannot travel alone with a boyfriend, so even by that law the woman would be in trouble with the law, not even counting if they were to kiss :S

As far as I am aware, any public show of affection is prohibited.

I do agree with AmandaT, about perhaps changing that, but really when you are visiting another country, you should respect it's laws or face the consequences.

The Middle East encompasses a whole number of countries. Israel is part of the Middle East and has no such laws but Iran does.

In Saudi Arabia you are not allowed to kiss some one especially in Public Area , for the reason that they follow strict Islamic Law. Religous police called "muhtawwa" will arrest you for doing so.

my aunt who worked in the Middle East for 2 years told me that public display of affection is strictly prohibited. Unmarried women could get beaten if they are seen doing things like wearing mini-skirts or riding on a car with non-relative male. Dunno, if the same situation is still in effect currently.

Showing your affections in public in the middle east country is strictly not allowed. And I think kissing your legal wife's cheeks and holding hands doesn't matter. But be sure you're equipped enough I mean you've your legal papers with you to show if ever you'll be caught.

That's right. It would be wise not to do any public display of affection even when you're not with a middle east woman. Countries in the Middle-East does not really look to women as human beings but things.
