I got pulled over for not having insurance about seven years ago. My driver lisence was revoked. I thought I saved up and paid to get my lisence back. I have no records, but I have had my lisence for about five years now. Recently the courthouse called and said I owe $2000 for the original ticket. They can't explain how I got my lisence back if I never paid the fine. Is it legal for an Illinois courthouse to call someone after seven years and demand payment for a ticket when they've already given you your lisence back? I thought I paid the ticket, but I don't remember. I remember not having my lisence for at least a couple of years.

If you had been to court and were told to "pay the fine", the counthouse "must have a record of theses payments".!
Also ,if you paided by "check" and come remember the banks name and/ or address ,call them and ask for "copies of the "checks" written out for payment.

If you want the records you next step would be to go to the "records" room in the courthouse.to retain them. Just make sure that you bring you "Licence" and your Social Serurity card with you !!

10 years ago Ireceived a DUI,and wanted to read my "record, or licence "abstract. That is what they call it here (NY State.) All my payments were made at the courthose,by check.;) Good LUCK.
